The Apple and the Maiden

Hololive Fangame

A visual novel set around the lore of Fauna from Holo Council. It took me quite a long to make considering it was originally planned to be part of the NaNoRenO22. Nevertheless I'm happy with the end result.

I hope you like this game, but even if you don't, I hope it at least entertained you for a while, and maybe it made you consider checking Fauna and other Hololive members channels.

Instructions:

Extract all the files to a folder and Run the EXE file.

*Important*

If you're unfamiliar with Fauna's lore, I'd advise you to watch these two videos:

Video1: Fauna's Halloween ASMR

This video is what basically inspired this novel. It's really good as a standalone ASMR and it's full of Lore.

Video2: Nemu's introduction video

In this video we are introduced to Nemu, Fauna's friend and companion. There's not  much lore about her but I find the idea presented on this introduction video very intriguing and that's why you see her in the game.

Disclamer:

This is a Fangame, I can't and won't accept any donation nor money from it. All characters and lore are owned by Hololive/Cover Corp. This game is a creative but unofficial take on them.

Licenses:

The game uses sounds, music, voice, and many assets I bought over time. Most of them are often found in Humble Bundle and Fanatical. If you have any inquiry about the License status there's a credits zip included there. If you recognize your assets and have a concern please let me know.

Like what I do?  You can buy me a coffee!

very nice game, i liked how accurate you were to the lore while adding your own twists.
question, are there only two endings? the council ending and then Nemu's endings?

Thank you! glad you noticed I took a lot of care to not break the lore too much even though I took some liberites here and there. To answer your question: yes, since it was for the NanoRenO I only had time to make two endings basically. I had (or have) plans to expand it later with another chapter.

Well-written and adorable, yet with a hint of horror, I really liked this

Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!

love the game thank you :):):)

Wow, this is a really nice hololive VN!

I really like that you included voice acting in the game.

I feel the voices you chose, especially for Nemu, are very fitting. Sometimes the intonation is a bit off, but in general the AI generated voices do a great job!

The music was really nice too for each of the different scenes and moods.

I got two endings while playing, not sure if there's more, but I liked the story!

Suggestions for improvement:

- In the story, I didn't understand why Nemu needed to prepare a chalice. She just wakes up and talks to me about it as if I should already know.

- Something similar happened when the Grandpa Gildenbark is presented. The way it's narrated feels like the protagonist knows stuff they shouldn't or something that was taught to them while off-camera. It would be interesting to obtain this lore from a character, teaching it to the protagonist.

- The Kirin all share the same face. It would be nice if you could give each a slightly different face (eye shape, face shape). The hair change and recoloring is a step in the right direction, but could be improved.

- The Kirin branches on the character sprite heads look off, since they're drawn in a different style. Try to match the anime cel-shading and the sprites will look a lot better!

- Some characters are introduced to the reader by name, like Perspa, but the dialogue title still says "Kirin" after we already know their name.

Great job on the game!

Hello! Thank you for the feedback! I’m so happy you enjoyed the game! I originally was making this game for the NanoRenO Jam back in March, but I couldn’t complete in time and aimed for April and then things happened and we’re here in Mid-May. I wanted to add a lot more story and details but I just couldn’t get it in time.

I’ll make good use of your feedback and make adjustments and publish an update at a later time.

Once again thank you for taking the time to play and write an amazing review. Have a great day!
